A message to our customers

The Government have now announced that after the lockdown finishes on December 2nd that we will be in tier 2. This does allow us to open but with greater restrictions than before lockdown 2. There can be no drinking unless eating a main meal and you will only be able to eat with people from your household or support bubble.

Since the new tiers were announced on Thursday we have seen many cancellations across all 3 of our sites from customers that were going to share good times with friends or people just generally worried about the Covid 19 numbers. We are also very worried about the numbers. We are worried for our amazing customers and our incredible staff equally.

Numbers of Covid in Sussex are still rising daily and we feel that we have a duty of care to everyone that visits or works in one of our sites. We have been lucky in Sussex since reopening in July that we have not had to deal with the sort of numbers that large parts of the country have had to but it now seems that it is our turn.

For this reason at this time and with a heavy heart we have decided to remain closed across all 3 sites. There is a real fear of another peak after the Christmas period leading to everyone going into tier 3 in the new year which would see everyone closing again.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly but a decision we have taken for all the right reasons. After the first lockdown was lifted we were very confident that we could provide a safe environment for everyone to enjoy and we think we achieved that. We now feel as the numbers are rapidly rising that this will be much harder to do and more out of our control than before.

Everyone’s safety and well-being must come before anything else. We will review this weekly and if we see the numbers dropping back down we will be making plans behind the scenes to reopen all 3 sites as quickly as possible.

We apologise to anyone that still has a booking with us, we will be in touch with you all directly in the coming days. If you have paid a deposit for a Xmas menu this will be refunded in full and our management team will be in touch after the weekend to make these arrangements. We will still be taking any queries via email which are checked daily at [email protected]

We hope that this decision can in some way play a small part in helping control the virus and get the numbers down in Sussex so we can soon start to plan our reopening.

Incase we are not open again before the festivities begin we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your amazing support through this very difficult year and wish you and your families a wonderful and safe Christmas together and pray for a better 2021 for us all.

We would also like to take a moment to thank Shepherd Neame for the incredible support they have given us during the Covid 19 pandemic. The support offered from them has been continuous and unwavering from day 1 and we know will continue to be there until we can get back to a normal way of life. Jonathan Neame in particular has been a strong voice for us as tenants and our sector in general.

We will be back even better and stronger.

Please stay vigilant and STAY SAFE
